Passing On Your Good Luck To A Friend

June 7, 2016

Ever been having a really, really good time of things, only to look around and see that your mate ain’t doing so good herself? Look, you don’t have to feel bad, it’s happened to all of us. Guilt won’t do you any favours, because there’s really no point you both suffering. She’d want to see you happy, and if she were in your shoes, she’d try and help you out. There are loads of ways you can pass along your good karma as a really great friend, however, and these are just a few ways you can start.

Literally Pass On Your Luck

Ever heard that old rhyme? You know the one “See a penny, pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck?”. Ignoring the fact that pennies quite literally don’t exist these days, many people don’t know the next part of that rhyme – “Give the penny to a friend, then your luck will never end.” Sure, it’s just old superstition at its finest, but it represents something true – if you’re having a good time of things, then the theory goes that you can pass on some of those good vibes. Modern equivalents include giving a scratchcard to a mate (or even pointing them in the direction of some online scratchies, purchased by you, of course), or maybe even passing on a little lucky charm.

Do Something Kind

If you do something nice for another person, it doesn’t just come back around for them, it comes back around for you, too. Remember, people go through good and bad times, so it’s best to be there for someone through thick and thin no matter what. Whether your friend is sick, grieving or simply just not feeling like herself (perhaps after a break up or job loss), there will always be ways that you can pick a friend up again. You could bring her a homecooked meal or bake her a cake, or perhaps just get her out for the day. Sometimes, thoughtful gifts can mean the most. Painting a picture of her and a lost loved one, or writing a letter about why her ex was an idiot anyway are just a few ideas which will brighten even the darkest of days. Good karma is super important for both of you!

Make Her Feel Involved

If you’ve recently been on a super lucky streak, it stands to reason that you’re doing something right! When we surround ourselves with positive influences and people, we can really learn a lot without even trying or realising. If you’re keeping great company from a networking perspective, for example, why not offer up some introductions? You never know where they could take her, and on the very least, they’ll keep someone you care about on the straight and narrow, perhaps the same way they have with you. By spending time with someone who feels she’s falling behind a little, you’re giving her some inspiration. But most of all? You’re giving her a friend. And that’s not only precious, it’s priceless!
