And That’s A Wrap!

August 11, 2016

It’s far from being a wrap for my breastfeeding journey! We’re almost five months in and the little man and I have a wonderful little groove going. Something that also isn’t a wrap is my ability to wear what I want, when I want. A mixture of breastfeeding and wearing Rafa in a baby wrap make wardrobe decisions challenging. I really don’t like fumbling with things and when my baby is hungry I want to feed him swiftly and with relative ease when it comes to remove clothing, discretely. And with the temperatures here still below 10 degrees, I need to keep warm too.

My wardrobe has been reduced to a fraction of what it was pre-pregnancy – and even then it was already minuscule! So literally right now there’s one dress that’s breastfeeding friendly, three nursing tanks, nursing bras and now this lovely waterfall wrap which I got from the Milk and Love store. It’s a beautiful bamboo wrap that drapes easily, the design is so versatile that I’ve worn it as a top (over a nursing tank), as a cardigan (long and short, simply by playing with the buttons or knotting the ends) and it works as a nursing cover if you want that extra bit of privacy. I don’t cover Rafa while nursing but I often drape the wrap across his body when I’m walking around with him in the baby wrap.

There are so many more ways you can wear it, the store provides a full description and suggestions but I’m having fun going at it on my own and discovering ways to make it work for Rafa and I. My wrap is the light taupe and it’s been such a breath of fresh air to my mostly dark wardrobe. The perfect addition as we (slowly, very slowly) edge into spring. The colour was a strategic choice too – wiping up the occasional milk spill is now so much easier and less obvious! Plus the wrap launders easily.

I’ve got a few items from the Milk and Love store. They have great customer service and the owner Corryn is so kind and helpful. In the early weeks of Rafa’s life she sent me a beautiful email with links to some breastfeeding posts. Milk and Love isn’t just a clothing store but a community rich with information and support for new mums. Corryn also has a little competition going where she’s giving away five of these beautiful wraps this month. There’s more information on the Milk and Love facebook page.

And I’ll be sure to post other ways to wear the wrap on my Instagram!
