Rafa’s First Haircut

Rafa was born with a beautiful head of hair but like many babies he began losing some in some places while in other places his hair grew longer. In the Indian culture it is quite normal for babies (both boys and girls) to have their baby hair shaved quite early in their life. I believe it’s the same in the Chinese culture. Patrick and I talked about it given that I have Chinese and Indian heritage and Patrick has Chinese heritage. He wasn’t all that keen on having Rafa’s hair completely shaved off, and I was on the fence about it. So in typical fashion we opted for the middle ground. We took our little man to the trendiest barber shop in the city for his first hair cut!

We took Rafa to Bloke (where men come first – I love that tag line!). We weren’t sure if they would be able to do it but the staff were so friendly and there were quite a few young blokes with their mums and dads getting their hair cut. We didn’t make an appointment but will be sure to next time because they certainly get very busy. We managed to snag the last spot of the day – thank goodness. We really wanted him to get his hair cut!

Rafa was such a little trooper and smiled, giggled and poked his tongue at everyone and every thing. We couldn’t have been happier with the service. The staff were gentle, friendly but very professional. I think hair cuts are going to become Patrick and Rafa’s thing to do together. Some Father-Son time at Bloke. What a great space for men.

Big thank yous and love to the team at Bloke! We love your work.
